Ginger-Lemon Elixir — Nourishment For Your Body

- 1 big pot (soup pot) of water (8+ cups)

- 2 bunches organic ginger (roughly the size of your hand)

- 4 juicy lemons

- 2+ heaping tsp Turmeric

- 2 tsp cinnamon

- 1+ tsp black ground black pepper

- 10+ cardamom seeds (crushed)

Bring your pot of water to a boil. Cut ginger into little chunks, leave skin on, add to the boiling pot of water and simmer on low, or a rolling-boil, for an hour or two. This softens the ginger and infuses the water with rich nutrients

After a couple of hours, remove the chunks of ginger (save the ginger water!!) and a little bit of the ginger-infused water into a blender and blend to break down the ginger into smaller pieces. Return blended ginger back to pot of ginger-water in the pot. You can top-up the pot with water, leaving about an inch from from the top of the pot. Add Turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon and cardamom and continue simmering for a few hours.

Letting the elixir cool, either a few hours or over-night. Drain the pulp through a strainer or cheese cloth into a large bowl and add the juice from the lemons. Mix well, funnel into glass container(s) in the fridge. (I re-use wine bottles for storage.)

To serve, you can heat-up the Elixir OR drink it cold. Add some honey if you like a little sweetness. I sometimes add it to tea (hot or cold).

+ Add a bit more once you get playing with this recipe to your taste.

...

If you have a sore or scratchy throat, I also have been gargling with a tablespoon of water and 9 drops of Oil of Oregano.

...here's to your continued health and well-being!
